FREE FLIGHT on TV? Not really (although it has been shown-along with other AMA modeling-in the past), but it seems so when you view the Free Flight models displayed on what appears to be a gigantic, inverted TV antenna in the atrium of the AMA Museum in Reston, VA. In our lead photo, you will see over a dozen magnificent Gas jobs hung from this central mast-they look like they are whirling around in the vortex of a gigantic thermal. This exhibit device allows the models to be easily switched as other museum models are restored. If you have not yet seen the AMA Museum (or if it was a while ago) you should put it on your must-see list the next time you are in the Washington, DC area. The museum is full of wonderful artifacts of model aviation, and most of them are Free Flight models.
