opportunity to fly in good weather because
soon we’ll be flying over snow again.
First thing this month is a shortened version
of an important notice to pilots using the JR
8411/8411SA servos.

helicopters! By the time you receive this issue, most Northerners
will be getting back into the swing of things, with a full season of
RC helicopter fun getting underway.
i need to apologize for missing last month (April 2001). Between
changes with the magazine staff and E-mail addresses, and my own
wild holiday season moving our store and office to a new location, it
just didn’t get handled as it should have. I’ll try not to do that again.
I’m not the only one who has had some missed deadlines. Many
items that were expected to be on your dealer’s shelves by
Christmas didn’t make it. A few did make it out in January though,
and I’ll discuss some of the big new items.

It’s AnOther perfect month to enjoy
the most challenging of Radio Control
(RC) aircraft, and some serious shopping.
This issue will arrive at the start of the
holiday frenzy. Some of the hot, anxiously
awaited releases have finally arrived, and
will no doubt be on some of your shopping
lists.
Let’s take a look at a few of them.
The Eagle Freya is now available, and
it generated a fair amount of interest this
summer at the IRCHA (International Radio
Control Helicopter Association) Jamboree
in Ohio.
The Freya is the new low-cost .60
helicopter in the Hirobo line, and it sports
a molded frame set with a belt-driven tail,
a new pitch slider, and a constant drive.
The street price is approximately $700.
On display at IRCHA, minus a few
parts, was the new .60-size Thunder Tiger
Raptor. Ace Hobby did not know when the
helicopter would arrive for sale at the time
of this writing, but it hopes to have it out
in time to be put under your Christmas
tree. No pricing has been announced.

Radio Control: Scale Aerobatics
As I write this, the biggest competitive events of the year for Scale Aerobatics pilots are fast approaching. The Tournament of Champions (TOC) in Las Vegas, and the Masters in North Carolina take place in late fall, and are the epitome of the "barnstormer" public events. The TOC, with its huge airframes, freestyle displays, and big-time prize money, encourages pilots to push the envelope. These types of events are superb entertainment for the public, and are enjoyable challenges for the world-class pilots who take part (pilots are invited to TOC, based on criteria set by the organizers; it's their money, so they can set the rules.)
