From the Copilot's Seat - 2015/04
As I write this, I have recently returned from AMA Expo 2015 in Ontario, California. The show was a success based on vendor and attendance numbers. Thanks to all who attended!

It is Thanksgiving Day as I write this, and looking at the past year I am thankful for many things. Family is a given because they are my family. Without them I would be a mere shell. They are supportive in my AMA efforts allowing me many hours of separation each year to do the organization’s work. I am thankful for my many friends, colleagues, and members, and their support of me this past year!

Relationships count! We certainly appreciate the EAA lending the support of its 180,000 members in its response to the FAA’s Interpretive Rule. EAA called for the FAA follow the plainly intended spirit and intent of Public Law 112-95, Sec 336(a), and refrain from imposing any regulations on operators of model aircraft or the model aircraft themselves, even if those regulations otherwise apply to “all aircraft.” Thank you, EAA!

This is my first opportunity to weigh in about the FAA’s interpretation of the “Special Rule for Model Aircraft,” established by Congress as part of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012.
