Wholly Toledo
The 41st Weak Signals Toledo RC Expo was held April 7-9, 1995 at the SeaGate Centre, Toledo, Ohio. More than 200-plus table-holders in the Swap Shop area above the main floor. This report's primary focus will be on "what's new?" items of general interest, most of the new products for the specialty disciplines (jets and helicopters, for example) will be covered by our columnists.

Last of the Originals: Twenty years ago this issue (July 1975) Model Aviation began in its current format. It arose from the ashes of the defunct American Aircraft Modeler to become a stand-alone official AMA publication. Carl Wheeley was Publisher; Bill Winter was the Editor; and Frank Ehling was Advertising Manager. That's a heavyweight lineup! An array of Contributing Editors was also assembled to provide a well-rounded view of the modeling spectrum.
Hand-Launched Gliders: Part II
Now it's time to get your new glider ready for flight. A number of preflight checks should be made before you head out to the flying field. The first order of business is the time-honored tradition of checking the center of gravity (balance point) of the model. While the exact location of this point will vary slightly from model to model, you can get "in range" by forming a V with your thumb and index finger, placing the model between your fingers, and seeing if it maintains a level position. The model is virtually certain to require some nose weight (modeling clay works well, especially for fine trim), so it's a matter of finding how much to add until the model rests level with the horizon when your fingers are at the proper point.

Column as we see 'em: The lack of a CL Aerobatics column in the March issue and the on-again, off-again appearance of the RC Soaring column has generated quite a bit of communication. We have received letters, phone calls, faxes, Internet and CompuServe messages, and copies of newsletter items relating to the columns. While we appreciate the concern, a number of persons have reached inaccurate conclusions about the columns and their future: The "missing" CL Aerobatics column was due to a scheduling mixup-nothing more. It has returned to its normal monthly frequency.

Correct the Correx: Bob Underwood advises that our attempt to correct the "who did what at the Scale WC" only got us in deeper. To dig out of the hole, once and for all: Bob's daughters Cathy and Anne were responsible for the photos, with help from Darlene Fredericks and Stan Alexander. At no time did Bob's wife Rae own, use, or get anywhere near a camera, as we erroneously reported. Rob Kurek recently received an interesting letter from a member in California. Due to its length, it is excerpted here. The letter-writer did not care for our January youth/beginner issue:
