BORN TO FLY 2013/07
RCGroups.com’s 2013 Electric
Tournament of Champions
I remember the first
year of the Electric
Tournament of
Champions (ETOC). It was
held in a gymnasium with
low ceilings and few seats.
There was a line around
the building composed of
excited RC spectators who
were in town for the Toledo
R/C Expo.

Multirotors for the beginner, part one. Multirotors are all the rage. I know this because I run RCGroups.com, the world’s largest RC site, and the multirotor section is blowing up with activity.
Born to Fly-2011/09
I REMEMBER when I got my first job in
the RC industry. The vice president of the
company told me I would have to attend all
of the major RC shows across the country.
We were sitting in a restaurant so I stopped
myself from jumping up and letting go with a
real Texas yahoo.
Born to Fly - 2010/05
IF YOU HAVE been to even one RC fly-in,
you might know how much fun one can be. I
have been a part of events that have had as
few as 20 people and shows as large as the Joe
Nall Fly-In—one of the world’s largest
outdoor events. I also host an annual gathering
and we usually have roughly 100 pilots as
well as spectators.
There are many ways to go about hosting
an event. Each show has its own character and
appeals to pilots in different ways.
Pat Hartness-the founder of Joe Nall 2012/07
When I made a call to the
founder of Triple Tree
Aerodrome, Mr. Pat Hartness,
he was in Woodruff, South Carolina,
grooming the main line in preparation
for the 30th anniversary of the world’s
largest outdoor RC event: Joe Nall 2012.
