RC Scale - 2012/10
Pietenpol Air Camper update
I have been working on the wing and center section of my Pietenpol Air Camper.
I changed the wing structure from a one-piece wing to a three-piece wing with
the center section staying attached. The ribs were cut and then all of the ribs that
needed holes for the center section were stacked together and the main access holes
for the aluminum tube and joiner were added. The aluminum tube will come out
with one wing panel.
Scale Radio Control - 2003/12
“FAMILY AFFAIR,” the title of an old
television series, comes to mind when I
think about the AMA Nationals (Nats)—
especially the Scale National
Championships. Through the years it
seems as though families continue to be
an important part of the Nats.

Defining Scale fly-ins and Scale contests
I’VE RECEIVED MANY questions recently, and I’ll try to
answer some of them in this column. Topics have included
requests for documentation sources, competition information,
where to find Scale fly-ins in the US, Fokker Dr.I updates, etc.
Checking the “Contest Calendar” section of this magazine can
help when you are searching for that next contest or Scale fly-in.
They are scattered
across the country.
Radio Control Scale - 2010/11
WOW! I COULDN’T have predicted it if I tried. The aircraft
type I covered in last month’s column won the Expert class at
this year’s annual RC Scale Nationals and was the Scale National
Champion.

AS I WRITE this I almost wish it were November. The 95°
temperatures these days make it a little on the toasty side at the field.
Now is the time to start planning where you’ll go next year,
whether it’s the Nats, a regional Scale contest, or a Scale fly-in. It’s
the time when some of us start planning our vacations.
