I HAVE BEEN telling you about the advantage of attending helicopter meets. You may feel that you are not up to flying in a meet whether it be competition or a fun-fly, but there is no better way to get first hand information and help than at one of these meets. Don't leave your machine at home-take it with you and enter. This way you will be one of the guys and not an outsider. Most fliers, myself included, tend to put off someone that is just asking questions and has not even bothered to enter the meet. After all, how can one tell how sincere a person is unless they are at least trying.

NOW THAT SUMMER is upon us, let's think about competition. You don't have to be an expert to compete, only determined to try! A great deal of pleasure and personal satisfaction, as well as an opportunity to learn from others can be had by competing. There are quite a few helicopter meets planned for this summer. The most important, of course, is the AMA Helicopter Nationals to be held on July 30, 31, and August 1 at the W.O.R.K.S. flying field, which is south of Dayton, Ohio. Friday, July 30, the course will be set up for practice while the judges will be training.

I HAVE HAD such a tremendous response to the offering of the Heli-Baby set-up that I have decided to describe it in the column. The printing bill was getting out of hand. I don't know how many of these helicopters have been sold in the U.S., but the response indicates a very large number. I have gotten hundreds of letters from happy owners praising this super helicopter. Here in the Florida Helicopter Association, we have quite a few people that have been trying to learn to fly-some for a couple of years! The Heli-Baby turned the trick, and they are now enjoying flying. In many cases, the learning process was greatly lengthened by the repair time versus the flying time. This machine is easy to repair so more flying time than repair time has greatly shortened the learning process. This set-up has worked very well on new Heli-Babies and on repaired ones.

WHEN I FIRST started writing for this magazine, I wrote about the Florida RC Helicopter Association and how it was conceived and organized. The magazine was rather new then, and I don't know if I got your attention with that article. The Florida club started out with two helicopter pilots wanting to fly with others. After our first organizational meeting a year ago last October on a rainy and blowing day, only one helicopter flew. However, several others did try. Now, a little over a year later at our fly-ins, we get at least 20, and they all fly! In fact, the sky is full of helicopters most of the time, and there is seldom a crash.

BY NOW, let's hope that you have purchased a Heli-Baby kit. This is, without a doubt, the finest small helicopter to come on the market to date. I say this because of fine engineering and flight characteristics. I have over 50 hours of air time on mine, and, each time that I fly it I am more impressed than ever before. However, I have found some wear points and have made some mods to increase their life. There have been some very good articles published about building this helicopter, but this article will deal with flying the Heli-Baby. I don't mean to tell you how to fly it but rather to pass on to you my findings.
