MOST of you who read this column regularly know that in 1986 we selected an FAI Pylon team that will represent the U.S.A. at Melbourne, Australia in April of 1987 at the World Championships. Your 1987 team is truly the finest RC Pylon Racing team ever assembled by any country. A 1-2-3 finish by our team is a very distinct possibility. But to make this a first-class effort, the team could use some help. Here's your chance to be a part of the 1987 team by demonstrating your support. In an effort to raise much-needed additional team funding, a finest-quality, five-color, embroidered patch is now available at five dollars postpaid. These emblems also have a heat-sensitive adhesive backing so that sewing is not required. They may be applied easily to any type of apparel or hats.

ON TO VICTORY! By the time you read this, our FAI Pylon team will be on its way to Australia for the 1987 FAI Pylon Racing World Championships. For those of you who haven't been following what has been going on, let's go back a bit. On October 27-28, 1986 at Smyrna, TN we selected the team that is to represent the U.S.A. at the RC Pylon Racing World Championships. The three pilots who qualified had to beat out the best fliers from all corners of the U.S.A. Our top qualifier was Dub Jett. His fastest time of 1:14.09 was tops for the meet. Dub works as a vice-president of a large company in Houston, TX. He has been flying model airplanes since he was old enough to hold one. He flew in Control Line Speed until about 1979, when he became interested in Formula I racing. With his knowledge of engines and his determination, he has gone right to the top.

HISTORY. Yes, that's what the 1987 FAI Pylon World Championships will be by the time you read this month's column. I hope the guys did well. As most of you already know, the 1987 Nats is to be held July 11-19 at Lincoln, NE. This year they have added Q500 Racing, and by the responses that I have been getting, it looks as though there is a lot of interest. There has been quite a rush the last several months in order to get a good, workable set of rules finalized. We have been working hard on this for the last four years (and more). But, with this type of Racing coming to the Nats, we had to complete the rules.

BOY! Have we got a full season of Racing ahead of us! By the looks of the newsletters I have been receiving from all corners of the United States and Canada, this year will have plenty of Racing for everyone, everywhere. There's activity from SEMPRA-land, as this year's NMPRA (National Miniature Pylon Racing Association) Championship Race will be held on October 24-25 in Orlando, FL. It's been about six years since we have been there for a race. They have always had a first-class contest. We will be looking forward to this one. SEMPRA already has 15 contests on the calendar for 1987, with seven races scheduled for Formula I. Here is a look at the Tangerine Race as reported by Bob Schuster and B. DesMeritte:

BY NOW all of you should have some races under your belts. Some of you are getting ready for the '87 Nats to be held at Lincoln Municipal Airport, Lincoln, NE on July 11-19. This year an added Q500 event should prove interesting. For those who didn't like flying into the sun in the evening, we will be flying in the mornings. Anyway, with all of the interest this year, we should have a really good turnout. Whenever I can, I try to pass on any items of information which might be of help to the Racer. If you have anything which might interest other fliers, send it to me, and I will put it here in the column.
