Mini Catapult Glider
This little glider is capable of high-performance flights. When properly built and adjusted, it will reach an altitude of 60-75 feet, make a perfect transition to a glide in left-hand circles, and achieve flight durations of 30-40 seconds. The Mini Catapult Glider is intended to complement the introduction to Free Flight models via the many Delta Dart construction and flying sessions that are held for schools, Scout groups, and AMA-sponsored programs. Its construction is specifically designed for a minimum of skills, time, money, and tools.
Double Whammy
DOUBLE WHAMMY was designed to be a simple model to introduce Indoor rubber trim, handling, and some building techniques to modelers who had never before tried the fascinating world of Indoor model aircraft. It has been a most successful airplane in that scores have been built by people of all skill levels and regular contests have been scheduled for this as a "one-design" event using a mass-launch approach. It is quite spectacular to see 25 or more of these brightly colored aircraft simultaneously circling toward the ceiling. The one criterion was that all materials and equipment for construction and flying must be readily available. Three items not normally found in the workshop are required:
Terrible Coupe
REGARDLESS of its name the Terrible Coupe is a very good model airplane. A visiting French modeler, seeing it fly, delightedly exclamed "Terrible!" (the French way of saying "terrific"), and the name stuck. Coming from a Frenchman this was high praise, indeed, since Coupe d'Hiver has been described as a national passion to French Free Flighters. Please don't conjecture that I gave this model a name intended to discourage others from building it; it has been successful for me, but that tactic would be much too transparent-those interested in flying the Coupe d'Hiver class surely know already that this model has taken first place in its event at four consecutive Nats (1982-1985).
