COMPETITION QUESTIONS: This
month I’ll take a few lines to explain the
answers to a couple frequently asked
competition questions. Of course they’re

debaters and concentrate on what is and
maybe why.

NEW TRICKS: Who says you can’t
teach an old dog new tricks? That one’s
been debated since the beginning of time
on both sides of the fence. I used to
laugh at such statements and scoff at the
senior members of my group (local
club) about their fear of accepting
something new and/or different.

NEW PRODUCTS are available for use!
The Safety Committee has approved
alternate materials for use as control lines
for all general, sport, and competition
flying. These materials have been in use for
other sporting activities—mainly fishing—
for several years and the CL community
has been interested in using them, but
needed the Safety Committee’s
endorsement to put them to use.

THERE’S NOTHING better than hearing
a well-tuned model engine (or two)
running nicely and pulling your favorite
model through the air with ease.
Unfortunately not everyone is in
agreement that model engines make a
pretty sound or should make a sound at all.
