District X Report - 2009/10
I CONSIDER sport fliers the heartbeat of
our hobby. They fly day after day, at their
home fields, all across the country. It’s this
type of modeler that keeps everything rolling.
I also believe that events are the heartbeat
of the truly dedicated modeler. This type of
modeler can be both a sport flier and a
traveler. Possibly even more, he or she could
be a member of one or more SIG groups such
as the International Miniature Aircraft
Association (IMAA) or the National Control
Line Racing Association (NCLRA).
District X Report - 2009/09
THERE ARE good events and good
places to fly, and once in a while you get
both at the same time. Associate Vice
President (AVP) Rick Maida traveled with
his wife Merriam to the Camp Far West
Seaplane event and sent in this report. The
float fly was hosted by the Associated
Modelers of Sacramento (California) this
past May 13-17.
District X Report - 2009/08
THE PACIFIC Aviation Museum at Pearl
Harbor held the “Biggest Little Air Show on
Ford Island,” on March 21, 2009, on historic
Ford Island on Oahu, Hawaii. The first
annual event featured the Birds of Paradise
Air Show Team, which conducted
superfluous model flight demonstrations
throughout the one-day event before a crowd
totaling roughly 1,000 people.
District X Report - 2009/07
HELLO, DISTRICT X. As I write this,
I’ve just returned from the Executive
Council meeting in Muncie, Indiana. It was
a quarterly meeting and all of the AMA
district vice presidents, as well as a number
of other officers of our organization, got
together to work out the details of the
membership.
