District IX 2013/07
When I hear the term float-fly in District
IX, I immediately think of Darrell Watts
who is one of our avid water aviators
from the Kansas area. Darrell doesn’t
limit his activities to Kansas. He helps
promote float-flys in surrounding states
as well. He has also been helping Pat
McGhee on the Heart of America Float
Fly.

Community involvement is a necessary asset for clubs to keep in their arsenal to allow security of their club and flying sites. Some people in South Dakota have undertaken such an effort that puts them in a positive spotlight with their local community.

EVERY YEAR AMA provides grant
assistance to its chartered clubs that wish to
improve or develop their flying sites. I have
always encouraged all the clubs here in
District IX to take advantage of the program.
