THE ENVIRONMENTAL Protection
Agency (EPA) sponsored a Webinar
seminar, “Taking to the Superfund Skies,”
for a look at AMA and the EPA Superfund
Redevelopment Initiative (SRI) Partnership.
The seminar was hosted by the EPA and
National Program Manager Melissa
Friedland and I were asked to participate.
Melissa began the presentation by
discussing SRI’s partnership with AMA.

engines, and I built a 41% version, powered
with a 3W-85EI gas engine, that weighed
almost 37 pounds.

Flying site opportunity in Kane County, Illinois
There is a recently closed landfill
where the stake owner is interested in
designating an area for model flying. It is
owned by Kane County, Illinois, and
operated by Waste Management.

ON FEBRUARY 10, 2005, the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) formed a partnership with AMA to support communities
interested in flying model airplanes on cleaned-up Superfund sites.
