Old-Timers

Old-Timer modelers cherish traditional building methods with balsa and tissue, fostering community and mentorship while celebrating vintage designs and history.

Old Timers

The "Old-Timer" column returns, now covering Free Flight, Radio Control, and Control Line modeling. Contributions are welcome, especially photos. The author, Mike Keville, shares his modeling journey since 1947 and emphasizes nostalgia for traditional building methods. Special Interest Groups for each category are provided, along with resources for plans and designs. Contributions and contest announcements are encouraged for future columns.

Old Timers-2004/11

THE JULY 2004 column, page 140, included a photo of a model
identified as a “Foote Westerner.” Apparently that was an error,
despite the model having been identified as such by the person who
submitted the photo.

THE BRAND NAME Ambroid needs no introduction to longtime
modelers. It was, and remains, the adhesive of choice for many.
Thanks to the efforts of former Ambroid president Art Laneau, the
company also produced a line of kits which included the Ares,
Stuka, and Whipsaw CL models and the Jetstream A/1 Towline
Glider
