AMA News View From HQ - 2012/10

A great flying season
Outdoor flying
events are
beginning to
wind down at
the International
Aeromodeling
Center. All things
considered, it’s
been a great
summer. Despite
drought conditions similar to what
much of the country has experienced
this year, and several days of stifling
100° or higher temperatures, our onsite
events this year went well.

District II Report - 2007/11

IT’S HARD to believe the 2007 outdoor
flying season is beginning to wind down
already in District II. By the time you read
this the Rhinebeck Jamboree, the NEAT
(Northeast Electric Aircraft Technology)
Fair, and the annual AMA District II Fly-In
will all be in the record books.
These events tend to signal the beginning
of the indoor season for many of us. A
number of our clubs have worked to secure
indoor facilities for the winter months,
which means that for us fair-weather
modelers, opportunities to fly are now
extended year round.

AMA News District II - 2007/10

WE HAVE a large number of members and
clubs in our district that work hard to
promote model aviation in their local
communities. Clarence Ragland, a member of
the Lake Ontario R/C Flyers, sent me a DVD
of a recent television program in which he,
club president Ross Niver, and club vice
president Joe Bartholomew participated.
Titled Western New York Tonight, it was
broadcast on the local community television
channel.

District II Report - 2004/07

FLYING SITES are becoming a scarce
commodity in some parts of District II. While
some areas of the district are blessed with
multiple sites—I have 16 different modelairplane
fields within 11/2 hours’ drive from
my house—the situation is on the verge of
becoming critical in the northern New Jersey,
New York City, and Long Island areas.
