Flying for Fun - 2003/12
“THE WRIGHT brothers were right” is a
line from a song in some forgotten musical.
However, considering this is being written for
the December 2003 issue, the sentiment is
most appropriate. On December 17 at 10:35
a.m. Eastern Standard Time, we celebrate the
100th anniversary of the first powered mancarrying
flight.

A modeler's early experiences
THIS MONTH’S COLUMN will not
follow a theme, as has been the custom. I
thought you might enjoy some quick peeks
at unrelated subjects instead.

I HAVE PREVIEWED kits for 3-D miniature foam electricpowered
fliers by Fancy Foam Models. They are made from
precisely CNC-cut and routed Depron, ready to have the included
graphite rods and such glued in, and slots for the servos, etc. are
neatly cut. This is good news for those who are unable or unwilling
to gather all the nontraditional materials and hardware for these
little wonders.

THE INFORMATION in the February
column about micro 3-D Electrics contained
an error that requires some attention.
Contrary to what I wrote, Depron, fan fold,
and blue foam are not the same. I
misunderstood what I was told during an
interview with a builder and what I read on
the Web site.
