CONTROL LINE COMBAT - 2005/05
THESE PAST FEW months I have been at home recuperating
from surgery for tongue cancer that I had in late August 2004. I
have always liked my time off from work, but this is not the way I
wanted it to happen. On the bright side of this ordeal, the time I
have been able to spend in the workshop has been wonderful. I
have built some old all-balsa models from kits that have just been
sitting around.
Control Line Combat - 2004/06
IN THE APRIL column I mentioned the possibility of having a
money contest on Monday and Tuesday July 12 and 13, 2004,
immediately following the Control Line World Championships. I
have begun a serious effort to secure funding so that we might offer
a substantial amount of money. My goal is to have at least $3,000 to
divide among the top finishers. This will be a fairly new approach to
Combat. The idea is to use FAI F2D models with AMA Fast
Combat rules.
CONTROL LINE COMBAT - 2003/10
EVERYONE WHO PAYS attention to Control Line Combat
probably knew long ago that Mike Willcox became the Control Line
World Champion in 2002 in Sebnitz, Germany. Since the World
Championships (WC) is held during even-numbered years, Mike
will remain the champion until the next WC in 2004.
CONTROL LINE COMBAT - 2005/03
AT THE START of each flying season,
clubs and individuals think about hosting
contests. There is usually quite a bit of
preparation and planning that needs to take
place before the event actually happens.
Securing a date and location, getting a
sanction, putting together publicity, getting
all of the necessary materials, having the
manpower to officiate, and having trophies
or prizes play a role in having a successful
contest.
CONTROL LINE COMBAT - 2003/08
IN 2003 YOU will see more speed-limit competitions than ever
before. The cash-money format for these contests will be in use
more and more. The fliers in Central California in the Morgan
Hill area advertised a contest in late April that offered a $1,000
first-place prize. I suspect that it will draw quite a few pilots. I
also saw on the Combat Web site that there would be a money
contest in the northeast part of the country.
