President's Perspective - 2009/03
The results were well worth the effort.
Many of our clubs have outreach
programs designed to introduce
model aviation to people in
their local communities. The majority of
these programs are designed to attract
young children and teenagers through
organizations such as Scouting, Civil Air
Patrol, and local parks and recreational
programs.
District II Report - 2003/08
DOES YOUR club participate in any youth
modeling activities? This is a great way to
return something to your community while
getting a great deal of personal satisfaction.
President’s Perspective - 2010/06
I’ll begin this column by welcoming fivetime
Space Shuttle pilot and commander,
Robert “Hoot” Gibson, as AMA’s first
Ambassador. In this volunteer role, Hoot will
be AMA’s national spokesperson representing
AMA to the media, participating in various
functions, and especially focusing on education
to promote model aviation as a fun,
recreational, and educational family activity.
In addition to being a member of the United
States Astronaut Hall of Fame, Hoot is a
longtime modeler and AMA Life Member. He
has competed in a number of AMA National
Aeromodeling Championships and other AMA
sanctioned competitions.
District II Report - 2004/08
THE FLYING SEASON is finally upon us
here in District II. Anthony Curcuruto wrote
that the Top O’ New Jersey RC Club’s
Annual Spring Water Fly was again a
success.
District II - 2006/12
The AMA Executive Council and the AMA staff have been working together for the last
several months on ideas that will help promote model aviation to the general public as a
recreational, family-oriented activity. These new programs, which we hope to launch at the
beginning of 2007, will mostly involve partnering with our members and clubs to accomplish
our goal.
