What are AMA Special Interest
Groups? AMA is a large
organization. Our members are
incredibly diverse and enjoy flying all types
of model aircraft, ranging from rubberpowered
Free Flight to turbine-powered jets.
In between, there are dozens of other types
of model activities enjoyed by our members.
District II - 2006/03
MUCH WORK goes into putting on a club
event. Whether it’s a fun-fly, rally, or a
competition event, it takes the willingness of
club members to give up a weekend of flying
at their home field and to pitch in and
volunteer their time and effort to make sure
that those who come to participate in the
event have an enjoyable time.

AS I SIT DOWN to write this edition of our
District II column, it is December 31, 2006.
The local weather report for the central New
York area is calling for unusually warm
temperatures tomorrow—somewhere in the
mid-50s—and we’re all looking forward to
our traditional New Year’s Day gathering at
the field to get in that first flight of the year.
District II - 2006/02
New Year’s Day 2006 has come and gone
and for many of us in our district we’re now
deep into the indoor flying season. Indoor RC
modeling has grown exponentially in the last
several years, thanks in part to advancements
in technology.

Our League of Cities (LOC) outreach
program will be complete for the
year by the time this issue of MA
reaches you. LOC is an organization
composed of officials from municipalities and
counties within the state. Most, if not all, states
have their own LOC.
