What We Did With Your Dues in 2007. Last month I mentioned that I was
compiling the first-ever AMA annual
report for the membership. When this
project was announced to the staff, a
collective yawn nearly sucked all the
available air out of the room.

The Academy of Model
Aeronautics is reaching out to the
membership in a new way in
2007.
Keeping watch over the 1,100-acre
National Flying Site in Muncie, Indiana, is
a formidable task. Borrowing a page from
the National Park Service and many
successful state park programs, the
Academy is seeking retired volunteers to
become flying-site hosts.
Requirements for this position are
simple

Many times it's the little things that count.
In a recent “View From HQ,” column I
expressed concern about the loss of
building skills from one generation to the
next. I posed this question because it is always
a concern when a skill set is lost, not by any
directive but by the ever-changing world in
which we live.

View From HQ - 2008/08

One of the most rewarding aspects of
being the Executive Director of
AMA is the opportunity to meet and
mix it up with fellow modelers. This past
Memorial Day it was my pleasure and honor
to attend the 2008 International Miniature
Aircraft Association (IMAA) West Coast
Festival at the Chowchilla Municipal Airport.
Before you start dragging out the maps or
MapQuesting, the airport is roughly 35 miles
from Fresno, California.
