Tom Neff, Colorado associate vice president (AVP), sent an addendum to the Wings Over the Rockies event reported on in May. I failed to mention two important organizers of this outstanding event.
District IX 2014/06
By now you know that Jim Wallen, former District IX vice president, passed away on March 29. The best tribute to him is the legacy he left in the AMA and District IX. He touched and influenced us all. Personally, he was my mentor for all things AMA. I will miss his advice and quiet wisdom.
District IX 2014/05
Norm Berger sent this information from the 40th—yes 40th—Annual Jefco Aeromod’lers Auction. I had planned to be there, but bad weather and roads made it impossible.
It sounds as though they didn’t miss me because more than 300 registered buyers were on hand to take away in excess of 800 items. This has to be the largest auction around.
District IX 2014/04
Darrell Watts sent a note about the Heart of America Float Fly that will take place at the end of May. This is probably the premier float-fly event in District IX. It is held in Paola, Kansas, roughly 20 minutes south of Kansas City. It is always well attended.

Let me introduce Kendal Baerg, the new associate vice president (AVP) for South Dakota. Kendal has been a member of the Brookings Aeromates for many years and has served as president and vice president of that organization.
