Radio Control Giants-2004/11
ON MAY 8, 2004, the Prince Georges
Radio Control (PGRC) club held its 12th
annual International Miniature Aircraft
Association (IMAA) Giant Scale event.
Since I had planned to be in the area
visiting relatives, I made it a point to attend
the event.

SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I wrote a
construction article on the Kangke
Industrial USA, Inc. Super Kraft 96-inchwingspan,
1⁄4-scale Rearwin Speedster
ARF. The write-up appeared in two
successive columns, with the flight report
appearing much later in the year because of
poor weather conditions. Now, having
logged more than a few hours on the
Speedster, I feel compelled to share my
observations on this outstanding model.

HOW DO YOU get your RC Giant model
to the airfield? In the fall 2004 issue of High
Flight, Chris Spangenberg wrote an article
about how he replaced his old Toyota truck
with a Ford E350 15-passenger van as a
solution to his model-transporting needs. I
can’t agree with him more! Towing is a last
resort and I don’t want the hassles.

WELCOME BACK.Why does it seem as
though summer passes so quickly, while the
winter lingers for an eternity? Talk about time
flying, September is already here and fall is
on the way. Don’t fret, there’s still plenty of
good flying weather to enjoy this season.

IT’S NEARLY MAY and spring has sprung! It’s time to finish
those winter projects and get ready for the flying season.
