District VII Report - 2004/09

IT’S THAT TIME of year again when the
membership of the AMA will be asked to
select a person for the position of president of
AMA. It is not my place to campaign for any
of the candidates who have been selected by
the AMA nominating committee, but I do
feel that it is important enough to bring it to
the attention of District VII members who
read this column.

THIS IS THE type of District VII
information I like to write about! It’s a true
success story—maybe even a Cinderella
story.
It started last summer with a group of
guys from the North Mankato Electric
Flyers Club who were flying at a local
school soccer field. Of course, when the
soccer players show up all flying ceases for
the day.

AMA MEMBER Walt Keating E-mailed
me and pointed out that I had misnamed the
twin-engine model pictured in my January
2006 column. Walt pointed out that it is the
Wing Derringer not Winged Derringer. Walt
also informed me that he had an opportunity
to fly the full-scale airplane.
