Introduction to Indoor Radio Control - 2004/07
I WROTE A feature article published in last
month’s MA titled “Introduction to Parking
Lot Flying.” That category involves flying
relatively small, easy-to-build, and relatively
inexpensive RC models close in.
Frequently Asked Questions - 2004/06
THIS IS THE second monthly FAQ column in which I try to
answer, as clearly as possible, questions you have written or Emailed
to me. Each question is given a sequential number for
identification purposes. Because publication space is somewhat
limited, part of each column will be in the magazine, and the
published portion and spillover material will be posted on the
AMA Web site. Let’s start!
Technical Review - 2004/06
MY FEBRUARY 2004 contribution to
the Model Aviation “From the Ground Up”
beginners’ series was “Advanced Radio
Control Systems.” The idea was to
indoctrinate the beginner into the next step
up in RC equipment—namely the
computer-driven radio systems. In that
article I mentioned the new Airtronics
VG6000 RC system, and in this article I
will explore it in depth.

Introduction to Parking Lot Flying - 2004/06
I WOULD SUSPECT that most RC modelers have heard
the terms “parking lot flying,” “backyard flying,” or
“schoolyard flying” in the past few years. Some may
wonder how these types differ from regular RC flying.
They really aren’t different when you consider the aircraft
involved and the radio control systems that go in them.
The primary differences are where the aircraft are flown
and the fact that they are basically small models
employing modest power levels.
