District III - 2011/05
THE LAST WEEKEND in February was
very busy for the Academy. I spent the
weekend at the Westchester Radio
AeroModelers (WRAM) Show while
AMA’s Government Relations and
Regulatory Affairs Representative Rich
Hanson and Associate Vice President (AVP)
Mark Radcliff were in Charleston, West
Virginia.

1986 by Dick Rutan and Gina Yeager.
District III Report - 2003/09
I HAVE BEEN asked many times, “don’t
you fly anymore?”
The answer is simple: yes! For the past
couple of years I have been flying Electric
models and at the Westchester Radio
Aeromodelers (WRAM) Show this year, I
decided to enter the world of rotary flight.

WINGS ACROSS America 2008 (WAA-
08) is a project involving pilots in the lower
48 states. The goal is to fly an electric park
flyer in all the states. The model will cover
approximately 14,000 miles. The unique
aspect of this project is that the airplane must
be personally handed over to the next pilot to
form another link in the national chain.

EVERY YEAR the Southern Tier Aero
Radio Society hosts an open house at the
club’s field. This year the event was special
because they presented me with the AMA
Hall of Fame Award. I express my extreme
gratitude to my family, Gary Fitch, Dave
Mathewson, and to all of my friends during
my lifetime of aeromodeling. Undoubtedly,
we encounter the greatest people in the
ultimate sport of aeromodeling.
