District VI Report - 2003/03
PEKIN IL: The Pekin Radio Control (RC)
Club held its 23rd Big Bird Fly-in at the
Pekin Park District. There were roughly 25
fliers and approximately 200 spectators in
attendance. What was unique about the flyin
was that it had television publicity. An
award-winning program, Postcard, was
broadcast on local channel 25.

HAD the privilege of representing the
United States at the Scale World
Championships in Deblin, Poland. A set of
circumstances put me, the second alternate,
on the CL team. We came in third and got the
bronze

MONTICELLO, ILLINOIS: Club 1131,
the Monticello Model Makers Radio
Control Club, recently held its first
Sailplane event promoting Giant Sailplane
flying. Forty-one pilots with more than a
hundred Giant Scale Sailplanes (4-10
meters) soared at the Monticello County
Airport, home of the Illini Glider Club.

WOOD DALE IL: The Chicagoland Circle
Cutters has a member who builds beautiful
airplanes. Marv Babcock Jr. designed and
built his Scorpion III. The airplane is
finished with Brodak dope
