I saw a recent post in an online forum asking why Model Aviation doesn’t occasionally include free pullout plans. That’s a good question and one that I answered online, but I also want to touch on it here in the magazine.

JS: How did you get involved with model aviation?
Jon: I started when I was 8 or 9 years old. For Christmas I got a Cox PT-22 “explode” Control Line airplane. I called it “explode” because every time it would touch the ground, all the rubber-banded parts—the wing etc.—would explode off the plane.
REVIEW - 2015/02
Radio controlled sailplanes offer a broad range of options from their controls, to their flight envelope, and the mode in which they are sent aloft. They can be flown for competition or simply for fun and can be as easy or complex as you want them to be.

I think you can tell a lot about a person by his or her office. In my case, I have two offices: one at work and one at home. Today, I am writing from my home office and suspended directly over my head is a 1/6-scale Sopwith Pup from Balsa USA. On my desk I have a Fokker D.VII done up in Ernst Udet’s candy-striped scheme. If you flip the propeller, it actually spins and makes the sounds of a Mercedes engine.
