George Maiorana is a well-respected craftsman whose aircraft have won several awards over the years. His newest creation, a C-133A Cargomaster, is equally impressive. The 10-foot, 8-inch wingspan model took 51/2 years to construct.
The Inside Loop - 2014/10
Two weeks ago, I joined several members of the AMA staff and attended the Detroit Maker Faire. We took the Education department’s simulator trailer and a large number of magazines to promote AMA and aeromodeling to a large group that celebrates creativity, invention, and of course, building.

JS: How did you get involved with model aviation?
FN: My father was into aeromodeling since he was a child, building gliders, and rubber band models. He later went on to work for the civil service building wind tunnel models for the Air Force. By watching him as a child, I was able to learn how to build and fly and owe him greatly for getting me into this hobby.
