District VIII - 2014/11
On August 16, clubs across District VIII participated in the annual AMA National Model Aviation Day. I was unable to attend any event this year because of a family wedding, but I have several reports from the associate vice presidents on National Model Aviation Day.

By the time you read this, the FAA comment period will likely be over. I hope we did a good job with comments so that some of the rule will be changed. Depending on what you read and who wrote it, the rules may not change at all. The FAA is a government entity controlled by Congress. It acts in the interests of the National Air Space and public safety.

On September 27-28, we will hold the annual District VIII Celebration of Flight in Kingsbury, Texas. We will have a barbecue on Saturday night along with a brief membership meeting for those who attend.

I was busy in May with Joe Nall Week and a family vacation on Mother’s Day. During the Joe Nall, I met up with many groups from Texas.

The month of April was busy for me! The AMA Executive Council (EC) meeting was held in Toledo, Ohio, and the Toledo R/C Expo. As part of my duties on the EC, I am also part of the AMA Scholarship Committee.
