2007 F3D RC Pylon World Championships - 2007/10

AMA's International Aeromodeling Center welcomed Pylon heroes from around the world
ATTENDING A CONTEST is like reading a best-selling novel,
except the story is live and there’s no way to peek at the last page to
see how it all ends. The book of the 2007 F3D World Championships
was written at the best place on earth to fly a model airplane: the
International Aeromodeling Center at Muncie, Indiana.

Electric Formula One Racing - 2010/11

EVEN IF YOU’RE not a fan of racing airplanes, it’s hard not to love
any home-built aircraft that has been miniaturized for the fun of RC.
Since the 1950s, people have been constructing Goodyear-class racers
in basements, garages, and city apartments. (Don’t laugh; it’s true.)
As RC pilots, we have learned that Pylon racers make great sport
models. They’re light, maneuverable, and fast—if we want them to
be.

The Inside Loop - 2010/11

Most people flip out over the
smallest things. Take cooking for
example. Chef Ramsay (of
“Hell’s Kitchen” fame) screams and yells
all over the place, and for what? Who
cares if the parsley is on the wrong side of
the plate?
As for those really fancy dishes, I say
“Chill out!” Personally, I like my soufflé
unleavened. Try a hunk of it on a lightly
toasted bagel and you’ll taste what I
mean—it’s still good.

Expo - 2011/04

Sunny California
during the first weekend
of the new year—
January 7-9 in 2011—is
the perfect place to get
the AMA’s 75th
anniversary celebration
cooking. The AMA Expo
is like a circus, of sorts; it
has lots of sights to see,
and the entertainment is
bountiful.
