AMA News District VIII - 2009/05
WE ARE in the middle of building and
swapping season, but many of us still have
flying weather as well. That makes this a
busy season for those trying to do winter
building, prepping aircraft for swap meets,
and having to go fly as well. Oh well,
someone has to do it so it might as well be
me!
AMA News District VIII
ACTIVITY is high in District VIII. Charles
Stevens, the associate vice president (AVP)
for the Greater Houston Area, has elected to
retire and let a new volunteer take over. He
has served for many vice presidents and has
been a faithful supporter of AMA activities.

I CAN’T BELIEVE I have been in office
for a year. What an eventful year it has been.
I have been to Muncie, Indiana, four
times; to Ontario, California, for the AMA
Convention; to Toledo, Ohio; and I have
flown in every state in District VIII at least
once. I have attended 22 events and read
hundreds of club newsletters.

I have a follow-up on previous comments
about hurricane damage. Eleven District
VIII clubs have received AMA Disaster
Relief Funds to restore their runways to a
usable condition.
