REVIEW - 2014/12
Many words can be used to describe an airplane’s looks. When I see the de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, the first word that pops into my mind is “utilitarian.” It has a squarish design, with long, thin wings and a wide main gear stance that makes it a great Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) aircraft.
Precision Aerobatics Addiction XI - 2014/11
The original 39.5-inch Precision Aerobatics Addiction caught my attention when it was released, thanks to its thoughtful design and attractive color scheme, combined with its capable flight characteristics. Add to that the fact that it was available in green, my favorite color, sealed the deal and I became the happy owner of a PA aircraft.
Curtiss P-6E Hawk
Several years ago, Great Planes introduced a 1.20-size version of the Curtiss P-6E Hawk. It was a hot seller and I always regretted not grabbing one for myself before they were discontinued. To my surprise I received a call to see if I was interested in reviewing Great Planes’ new, smaller version of the Hawk. I couldn’t say yes fast enough!
FMS Henschel HS123 2014/02
The people at FMS have exploded onto the aeromodeling scene with a wealth of smaller, foam ARF kits. One of the company’s newest kits in its warbird series is the FMA Henschel HS123 ARF.
Aeroworks 30CC Laser 200 ARF 2014/01
The full-scale Laser 200 was originally a Stephens Acro that was modified by Leo Loudenslager. Leo won an unprecedented seven US National Aerobatic Championship titles between 1975 and 1982, as well as the 1980 World Champion title. AeroWorks new Laser 200 is a faithful reproduction of Leo’s Laser in its final red, blue, gold, and white color scheme.
