District IV Report - 2010/05

THERE HAS always been an interest in the
southeastern area of Virginia for modelers to
experience the challenges of indoor flying.
Many modelers would exploit wind tunnel
return chambers, vacant hangars, or even an
empty warehouse just to experience the rare
opportunity to fly within a confined area, free
of wind and weather.

AMA News District IV - 2007/10

THE WEST HICKORY Aero Modelers
held its fifth annual Warbirds Over Wilson
Field in Hickory, North Carolina on June 2,
2007. The event was CDed by Mearle
Hickman. Approximately 30 pilots attended
with a variety of World War I and II
airplanes and even a turbine. The weather
was great and the food was served by the
Drowning Creek Fire Department. The usual
50-50 drawing increased the club’s coffer and
the winner’s pocket.
