District IV - 2010/07
DAVID MAYS, president of the Gaston
R/C Flyers, reported on an event his club
held in conjunction with the Webb Street
School in Gaston County, North Carolina.
The club formed in 1963 and has roughly 50
members.
District IV - 2008/09
WITH LOWE’S Motor Speedway as the
backdrop, the Flying Aces club kicked off
its spring season in style as the club hosted
its first Fun-Fly on April 12, 2008. It was a
big success with more than 35 pilots
registered and at least an addtional 40
spectators.
Bliss Teague, AMA District IV Vice
President, was in attendance to support the
club’s new adventure. Thanks to “Humpy”
Wheeler and the speedway, the Flying Aces
have a great place to fly and meet new
friends.
District IV - 2010/08
IN 1983, Carl and Beth Goldberg asked the
Academy of Model Aeronautics to help
create an award to recognize these types of
individuals.
District IV - 2010/09
NASCAR and former Formula I driver Juan
Montoya was interviewed by AMA’s Chris
Brooks and Mark Benson, and other
members of the media (see this issue’s cover
story). Juan is an AMA member and he
asked me if he needed to show his
membership card! I told him no.
