JOHN HUNTON, chairman of the Culpeper
County Airport Committee, wrote about the
Culpeper County Airfest, which was held
October 8 in Brandy Station, Virginia.

ON JULY 31, 2010, the Charlotte
Aeromodelers opened the club’s air field, the
McCracken Aerodrome, for its First Annual
All Helicopter Day. It was a day of
helicopters of all types and sizes.

DISTRICT IV’S John Spalding, AMA
#932, was inducted into the Model Aviation
Hall of Fame at a get-together of the first
District of Columbia Radio Control Club
(DCRC) Air Show Team at Bill
Cavanaugh’s house in Ellicott City,
Maryland, on March 20, 2010.
John has made a lifetime of contributions
to model aviation, including service as a
District IV vice president and an AMA
representative to the FAI in various
capacities.

IN MAY, North Carolina’s Catawba Valley
R/Cers held a fun-fly with proceeds going to
the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of
Catawba Valley.

FERGUSON FIELD Barnstormers, Inc. has
a new name—Smokey Mountain
Barnstormers, Inc.—and a new flying field.
The club had been flying on Cherokee Indian
property for many years and then there was a
problem.
