SEVERAL MONTHS ago Joanne
Schultz, a teacher at Reardon grade school
in Reardon, Washington, contacted Arnie
King, a local modeler, and asked for his
help getting two boys and two girls ready
for the Washington State Science
Olympiad. There was not enough time to
prepare properly, but this request turned
into something much bigger than expected

THE RED APPLE Flyers’ new flying site
is the result of many years of negotiating
with Waste Managment Corp (WMC) and a
property trade. WMC gave the club money
each year for five years to hold the property.
Then WMC paid for all of the development,
building, etc. The building has a full
commercial kitchen, meeting rooms, and
restroooms with showers.

District XI - 2008/07

THE FIRST full weekend of May finds
many Northwestern modelers at Wenatchee,
Washington. That weekend is not only the
Red Apple Flyers’ Fly-In but the local
Apple Blossom Festival, which draws
thousands of visitors and every high school
band in the state—or so it seems!
